“Empowering communities through diakonia: Faith, action, and collaboration”
The workshop brings together 50 participants representing 21 Lutheran churches in Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, and Cambodia. They include individuals who lead and coordinate diaconal work among churches in the region, and LWF scholarship holders whose study fields are related to church and community development work.
Discussions will also explore how the diaconal focus areas align with LWF’s strategic priorities on gender justice, working with indigenous people and addressing people with disabilities.
The online event is part of the annual workshops organized in the different LWF regions with the objective of exploring the dynamic elements of diakonia, strengthening churches’ self-understanding and empowering them for sustainable community development. Networking opportunities will strengthen connections and enhance mutual learning and joint engagement.
