Applications for LWF Scholarships in Theology and Diakonia

Every year, LWF awards around 90 new scholarships in the fields of theology and diakonia. The aim is to equip individuals with knowledge, skills and confidence in order to strengthen the churches’ capacities for holistic mission and prepare the next generation of leaders in the Lutheran communion.

Long-term projects

Deadline for applications: 08 January 2025

LWF-supported projects address strategic priorities of the member churches. Any LWF member church, national committee, regional expression or related diaconal institution is eligible to apply for short-term or long-term projects.

The project concept has to empower the young people to advocate for actions that promote peaceful, inclusive, and just societies, increase the level of mitigation and adaptation awareness amongst the LWF member churches, and encourage the Inclusion of young people in peacebuilding at local and national levels.

Applications for training on gender justice and leadership in Asia

The LWF invites women, men and youth from its member churches in Asia to submit applications for  the region’s first training in theology, gender justice and leadership education, under the Hélène Ralivao Fund. 

A Singing Communion of Churches

Editions (2018 – 2022)

During the Advent season, LWF member churches shared hymns from their congregations to show how the Lutheran communion regions prepared for Christ’s coming into this world. We want to use this period to reflect on and celebrate the diversity, uniqueness and oneness of God’s gifts to us.

COP28 Dates: 30 November until 12 December 2023

The LWF calls for youth nominations from all regions to participate in negotiations at the UN climate conference COP28. The nominated youth will play a key role in shaping the LWF’s engagement with COP28 from national-level advocacy to global mobilization.

Young Lutherans (18-30 years) from LWF member churches are invited to apply to be stewards at the Thirteenth Assembly. The Stewards Program will provide a space for sharing ideas, leadership development, and increased understanding of The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) and the role of its highest decision-making body, the Assembly.

Applications for small-scale Climate Justice Projects
