Communion building

Supporting churches’ presence and vibrant witness in the world

The LWF promotes relationship-building in the communion of churches, nurtures Lutheran identities in diverse contexts, and encourages mutual learning and support among members.

Relations are part of what defines who we are in our life and work as a communion of churches. They take many shapes and forms and serve different purposes.

We come together to share our faith and even our way of expressing that faith. We also share our knowledge and resources and collaborate in our actions or programs when that makes sense, across regions or globally.

Networks, workshops, training sessions, and consultations on topics of common interest promote communication and collaboration between member churches. As a result, churches can grow together as communion and support the LWF’s vision to live and work together for a just, peaceful, and reconciled world.
