16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence

16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence

25 Nov – 10 Dec 2015
Open to All

“From Peace in the Home to Peace in the World: Make Education Safe for All,” is the theme for this year’s focus. The period begins on 25 November with the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and continues until 10 December, Human Rights Day.

According to UN Women, one third of women globally have experienced physical or sexual violence at some point in their lives. More than 125 million girls and women alive today have been subjected to female genital mutilation across countries in Africa and the Middle East.

In keeping with the communion's pledge to gender justice, LWF presents a series of short videos featuring LWF President Bishop Munib A. YounanLWF General Secretary Rev. Martin Junge and member church leaders, emphasizing the messages that violence against women is not only a life issue but one of faith, and also that both men and women must unite and work toward building a healing community.
