LWF Delegation to the Interfaith Summit on Climate Change & Climate Summit 2014
On 21-24 September, New York will be the scene of a concerted global effort to mobilize action on climate change.
Lutheran leaders - a delegation of young people from all over the world - will be in the forefront to advocate for climate justice on behalf of the entire LWF communion.
Anchoring event is Climate Summit 2014 hosted by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on 23 September.
On 21-22 September, the World Council of Churches and Religions for Peace are organizing an Interfaith Summit on Climate Change to highlight the specific contributions that faith traditions bring to the international climate debate.
The summit plans to present an interfaith statement to the UN. The LWF Vice-President for Asia will represent the LWF Council.
Further events include:
- People’s Climate March - Through the Fast for the Climate initiative, the LWF will be involved in what is expected to be the largest climate march in history.
- Fast for the Climate – The LWF is hosting a time of fasting and reflection at The Church Center for the United Nations. Join in the fast wherever you are!
- Equity Dialogue Breakfast – The LWF delegation is attending this ACT Alliance-hosted event with Climate Summit 2014 delegates from 25 countries.
