New Lutheran leaders' retreat
New Lutheran leaders' retreat
Recently elected bishops and church presidents in the global LWF communion will come together to contemplate their vocation both as leaders within and beyond their own institutions. What does it mean to be a church leader in different contexts? What is the role of an individual church in the LWF communion? How can we build a living communion across different continents? What issues concern church leaders in different contexts?
It is the second retreat in a program started in 2015 to provide space for those entrusted with leadership to deliberate on what it means to be an LWF member church, how churches can contribute to and fit into the global strategy agreed by the whole communion.
They will gain more insights about the various LWF programs, share initiatives from their home churches, and hear how cooperation with ecumenical bodies such as ACT Alliance and the World Council of Churches can strengthen ecumenical action. Finally, a visit to the United Nations will provide participants with information on how to profile local issues for global advocacy.
