Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2022
The Beirut-based Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) has selected the theme and prepared materials for the 2022 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity which is observed by churches from 18 to 25 January (or around the feast of Pentecost in parts of the southern hemisphere).
The theme is taken from St Matthew’s Gospel: ‘We saw the star in the East and we came to worship him’ (Mt 2:2). The resources are designed for use in all kinds of ecumenical events including shared worship services and bible studies, as well as private prayer and reflection.
Available in seven languages (English, French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Italian, Arabic), the material is prepared under the auspices of the World Council of Churches and the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of Christian Unity.
This year’s reflections explore the story of the Magi in its biblical setting and within the contemporary context of challenges facing churches in the Middle East today.
