LWF’s Thirteenth Assembly resolutions highlight key concerns for churches including study processes in theology, intergenerational justice, sexual and gender-based violence and the climate emergency.

LWF Thirteenth Assembly decisions focus on key concerns for churches and communion in a global context
Delegates to the recently concluded Thirteenth Assembly of The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) passed several resolutions aimed at making the communion more inclusive, accessible and responsive to the challenges faced by churches as they witness in diverse contexts.
The resolutions provide general direction for the life and work of the LWF. They emerged from issues brought to the Assembly from the regional and global Pre-Assemblies, thematic plenary and Village Group discussions and other interventions.
The resolutions focus on theological education, inclusivity and participation, women in the ordained ministry, gender-based violence, intergenerational and gender justice, Indigenous Peoples, and persons with disabilities. Other topics include the church in the public space, strengthening ecumenical commitment, and Jewish-Christian relations. Also highlighted is LWF’s humanitarian response work, serving people on the move, and the climate emergency.

The Thirteenth Assembly of the Lutheran World Federation took place 13-19 September 2023 in Krakow, Poland. The theme of the Assembly was “One Body, One Spirit, One Hope”. It was hosted by the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Poland.
