Daily reflections featuring diverse voices from around the globe
(LWI) – Advent as a time of joy is the theme of the seventh edition of The Lutheran World Federation’s (LWF) Advent calendar.
LWF’s Advent series has been greatly appreciated in past years. Inspired by the Advent season and the themes of last year’s “Messages of Hope,” the LWF will feature a daily video with a reflection of joy as a theme of the Advent season on its social media channels from 1 to 24 December.
“Advent is a time of joy when we prepare our hearts to celebrate Christ’s birth,” said Rev. Arni Danielsson, LWF’s Head of Communication. “Through these short messages, we hope to share joy across our global communion, learn more about each other. We invite everyone to join us on this journey around the world.”

The “Messages of Joy” will feature contributions from LWF member churches and country programs. These speakers, men and women, young and old, lay and ordained, will share stories about on Advent and Christmas as seasons of joy. They will offer theological insights and personal stories that show how the joy of Advent and Christmas resonates in their diverse cultural and regional contexts.
Through their voices, the advent calendar will celebrate the diverse expressions of joy across traditions and communities worldwide.
