“Powerful opportunity to recommit to God’s mission in the world”
(LWI) The report of the Twelfth LWF assembly from 10-17 May 2017 in Windhoek, Namibia, has been published and is available for download and in print. Under the theme “Liberated by God’s Grace”, the report contains the assembly message, as well as presentations, public statements and resolutions.
The Twelfth LWF Assembly was held under the theme “Liberated by God’s Grace”, which was further explored through three sub-themes “Salvation – not for sale”, “Human beings – not for sale” and “Creation – not for sale”. The report contains the keynote speech by Dr Denis Mukwege which linked the assembly main theme to the issue of sexual violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo, as well as the introductions to the subthemes.
“Reading through the report, fond memories come back to my mind about the many beautiful moments experienced in Namibia,” says LWF General Secretary Rev. Dr Martin Junge. “The Assembly represented such a powerful opportunity to recommit to God’s mission in the world, and to do this together as a communion of churches.”
The Assembly message and the resolutions adopted by the Assembly have been included in the strategy development, the LWF General Secretary adds. “May this report serve as a renewed encouragement to the one already received while experiencing both the beauty and the strength of the communion gathered in Windhoek.”
