50th jubilee marked with weekend of festivities

(LWI) The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Congo (ELCCo) celebrated its 50 jubilee with services of thanksgiving, seminars and conferences, as well as visits to the church’s theological training institute, women's centre and an agro-pastoral project.

The Lutheran World Federation was there to express its gratitude that the church is growing and to lift up its mission and diakonia in a country longing for peace and reconciliation. LWF members and ecumenical guests offered greetings and prayers for the church, which has dioceses in four provinces.

Guests included representatives of the Lutheran Communion in Central and Eastern Africa, Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania, Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria, Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany, and the Roman Catholic church from Lubumbashi.
