Module 01 : Visions and Values of Church Leadership in Biblical Perspective

The learning module introduces basic Biblical principles, key values and Lutheran perspectives regarding leadership in the church. The materials provided challenge to critically reflect how leadership as service and commitment to uphold unity are lived out in the communion and how our shared values are applied in church leadership. Module 1: How we can perceive God's work in the world around us, and experience that presence of the Holy Spirit as a gift and a promise

Introduction: In this course, we explore themes that emerged from a 2019 consultation in Addis Ababa on Lutheran identities, and explore the creative, vibrant, life-giving diversity of what it means to be Lutheran today in different contexts around the LWF Communion. Each module includes a video of a webinar that explores the topic. Speakers present each topic, and question and answers follow.

Module 1: Introduction to Lutheran Theology

Rev Dr Chad Rimmer, LWF Study secretary for Lutheran Theology and Practice, addresses the question, “What is Lutheran theology?” This nine-module course in Lutheran theology was developed by an international working group of theologians in conjunction with LWF’s Department for Theology, Mission and Justice. Each module includes a video lecture, guided readings and discussion questions to guide group reflections.

Introduction: In this course, we explore themes that emerged from a 2019 consultation in Addis Ababa on Lutheran identities, and explore the creative, vibrant, life-giving diversity of what it means to be Lutheran today in different contexts around the LWF Communion. Each module includes a video of a webinar that explores the topic. Speakers present each topic, and question and answers follow.

Module 2: Luther, Lutheranism and Justification

This nine-module course in Lutheran theology was developed by an international working group of theologians in conjunction with LWF’s Department for Theology, Mission and Justice. Each module includes a video lecture, guided readings and discussion questions to guide group reflections. Target audience: The course is aimed at undergraduate students, and pastors or church workers who are interested in reflecting on different aspects of Lutheran theology.
